Traveling Tips to bangkok Chiangmai July 2010?
HEY i AM PLANNING TO COME TO BANGKOK AND CHIANG MAI with my family FROM 10 TO 20 JULY 2010 FOR SHOPPING. PLEASE ADVISE ME IF ITS SAFE AND HOW IS WETHER CONDITION IN THIS PERIOD. ALSO WOULD LOVE SOME ADDITIONAL TIPS, BARGAINS, AS ITS MY FIRST TRAVEL TRIP TO THILAND. YOU MAY MAIL ME

You shouldn't have any problems with safety as the recent troubles in Bangkok have ended. However the largest shopping mall (Central World Plaza) was badly damaged but I understand some sections of it are now open again.
For Bangkok the best city shopping malls are probably: Central World Plaza, MBK and Siam Paragon - all of which are connected by the same road so getting between them is simple. Also, if your there at a wkend try the world famous market - Chatuchat and if you fancy shopping off the tourist track try 'The Mall - Bangkapi' in Bang Kapi (funnily!) its a very large mall which few non-Thai's get to.
In Chiangmai the markets are great, there is a daily night market and on certain days of the week a road is closed to traffic and becomes a 'walking' day market. There is also a shopping centre near the airport and an IT Mall near the night market. East of the old city walls.
The weather may be less predictable because after May/June its rainy session.
Tips: 1) Tours are good, but be aware many just take you from shop to shop rather than let you explore the sites so try to plan your own trips if possible. 2) Always have lots of small change Baht coins (1B,2B & 5B) because most places charge to use their toilets. 3) Try a tuk-tuk at least once - Your in Thailand after all!!!
