8 month old traveling to Hawaii...Mom worried about messing with her routine!?
Our daughter Emma has been on a routine since she was 4 months old. She is 8 months old now, and our days are so easy because of the routine. She is awake for 2-3 hrs, down for an hour 3 times a day. Then down for the night at 7. I am SO worried about traveling to Hawaii with her. I know she will have a hard time falling asleep on the plane. I know about doing the benedryl...but if she doesn't sleep from that, it will make it 10 times worse. She will be very overtired if she doesn't sleep, and then will have to get used to a new place to sleep at night/naps. I plan on bringing her crib sheet and blankets so it smells like home. But for naps during the day even, I will have to stay close to the house we are renting to get her in bed every 2-3 hrs. I am just afraid she will be so overtired that she won't sleep, and it will keep going, and the trip will not be enjoyable. Any advice??
Babies are adaptable. My child flew about 100,000 miles during her first two years. Hawaii included. Planes aren't very exciting after takeoff so sleep comes easily. Often, on the long trips (like Hawaii), other small children are on the plane too. Emma might get lucky and find a peer.
