Interruptions Business Travel: Conference calls are an excellent alternative
The winter of 2009/2010 will always be remembered for travelers business as the winter from hell. Of labor disputes to the monster of time this winter has been a test for the business traveler. It's times like these, when companies need to understand and adapt to the use of conference calls.
The threat of strike by cabin crew during the Christmas British Airways and the New Year was the first domino to fall. In the end, the strike has not occurred after the statement questioned the legality of the vote. However, the damage was done. In a panic, the passengers of United Kingdom business flight companies have sought alternatives to meet with limited availability and high prices.
The second domino was the Eurostar trains that got stuck in the Channel Tunnel due to snow in northern France. Between 19 and 24 December, canceled a large number of services, and those who were not, often had delays. Again, this led to frantic business travelers the organization of alternative routes to mainland Europe with the hope of reaching the last meeting before Christmas.
To make matters worse the snow reached United Kingdom at the same time. Unexpected and unprepared, the disruption was inevitable. Many of the UK's airports suffered, including Heathrow, Gatwick, Cardiff, and Inverness. The most affected was from Luton, where Easyjet has canceled a day and a half flight. Road travel was also significantly worse than the dangerous conditions gripped many drivers. Cue business travelers a more frantic trying to find other modes of transport.
All this has been questioned overdependence on travel for business travelers. As connection speeds increasing speed, the issue of delay increasingly becomes a problem. The grainy video images of old have been replaced with images of good quality.
