Is Oaxaca, Mexico a safe place to travel?
I am thinking of going on a travel study with my University. I am just wondering if anyone has traveled there or lives there? My parents are worried for my safety but I really want to go. If you have anything to tell me or could help me to convince my parents it's alright to go, that would be great!
Not to be a bummer, but I would be seriously cautious about being anywhere in Mexico alone right now. If you could be with 2 or 3 people at all times, it might be o.k. Otherwise, especially don't be walking the streets alone at night, and be careful of certain neighborhoods. Of course, the people in general are very kind, decent people, but there is so much problems going on right now, too.
