Travel Photography: Traveling With Gear
There is a mind-numbing amount of considerations when packing for travel photography. Such as that lenses are needed, how they are going to store your photos and how you will carry it everywhere. Then there is the pleasure of having everything beyond the increasingly stringent restrictions on airline baggage. A little forethought and planning can help ensure that no one will be left without vital equipment and are not taxed therefore not necessary.
Gear
Perhaps the most obvious is the camera and lenses. If you have planned your route and have an idea types of vaccines that want to take. If not, stop what you're doing now and this first. Once you know what photos to take, you can decide on lenses that will help you make better. Thinking about the landscapes? Then, not without the wide angle lens. Intimate portraits? Maybe a mid-range zoom would be useful.
If we are discussing having a spare camera body does not. Debate is. Package it. The last thing we need is that the camera is stolen or rest on the road. You may not be able to find a repair shop, and if you do may not be able to solve on the spot. That would be the end of your photo taking adventure there. Not learning the hard way for the sake of extra weight.
Then there are all the accessories that may or may not be useful. If the package density filter set neutral? Again, think about the types of photos that will take. If your landscape, then yes, by all means put them in. If your pictures are probably just going to take space. This goes for the tripod as well. In general, pictures of trips taken by hand, usually with plenty of light. However landscapes tend to be in the morning Early or late afternoon.
Storage
Once you've found what you're going to have to take the photographs, you need to put some thought into how to store them. If you take your laptop, a portable hard drive or two, a bag of memory cards or all of the above? How much storage you need depends on the length of stay and the number of shots that you do. A laptop is useful if you need to view images on the fly, or want do some editing after the hotel room. But if not, its just another expensive piece of equipment you need to worry. Leave home. Some drives portable hard drive has a display screen so you can review the photos as the charge, which may be useful to see if the image you want and gives you the opportunity back and try again if you missed it.
As a rule, is a good idea to have two copies of the images as disk drives are characterized by being at times inopportune. If you have a lot of memory cards, backup on a portable drive and used the store card is a separate place.
Make things around
There are a few different options to take your team with you in one place. shoulder bags are usually able to contain a large amount of material, but have The downside of all the weight hanging from one shoulder. These bags are a good option if you do not have to walk too, but about performing well for gears several days may cause serious injury to his back.
The bags have the advantage of distributing the weight evenly, making it ideal for places where it will do much walking. Many of them also have the added advantage of not look like camera bags and so tend not to attract much attention.
Many considerations going to pack for travel photography. But thinking and take the train that suits the style of photography you want to do and place to be and allow you to focus more on around you when you get there, instead of trying to decide which lens to use and completely missing the shot.
