Should I bring this plug adapter to England?

Since I'm from the U.S., I'm wondering what the outlets and stuff are like over there. I have family that I'm going to be visiting for a month but I haven't been there since I was about 5. I went onto Amazon.com and bought two All-in-One Travel Power Plug Adapters that convert into adapters for US to UK usage, but my mom informed me that the volt electricity is doubled over there and some of her electronics melted because of it! I'm going to want to bring over a laptop, curling iron and phone charger for the most part, will these protect my electronics?

one thing you have to be careful. if she told you the appliances melted it's because the power voltages are differente, just check if your electronics voltages are the same as in UK, over here all sockets are 240V, see if your plugs accept or convert voltages, normally laptops do and some phone charges as well, it's written on all plugs the input volts they accept, normally laptops and phone chargers will read "input 110V-240V AC" this works in all ranges of domestic power worldwide, but if it say "input 110-120V" that adaptor from Amazon will be useless and you won't be able to function them items over here.
