2000 Durango for Towing?
2000 Dodge Durango, 4x4, 5.9L, 101,000 miles, loaded and in very good shape. We are close to buying this SUV. Any tips/advice, especially in regards to towing capabilities (24'-27' travel trailer). They are asking $6995, which is about $1500 less than NADA value. Thanks.

I drive a 2000 Durango 4x4 with the 5.9L in it. I tow my 32' boat with it and have no problems. You could try getting a better price these truck get bad mpg so sellers are having trouble unloading them. I tried to trade mine in and they only wanted to give me 4k for it. Its loaded and 78k miles on it. I think its a little over 8k pounds. A weight distribution hitch will help you on a bigger trailer, check the rating on the hitches mine was only good for 5000 pounds w/o weight distribution.. My Durango had the trailer tow package also with the 3:91 rear end which helps. The only thing I have repaired on my Durango other than maintenance is the ball joint recall and that was free from Dodge.
