Decline of Buddhism in India regarding Islamic invasion?

I'm sorry to disturb y'all in travel session with this topic.I believe that Indians know best about it.

I want to read some books where historians talk about that topic.Tell me links and books about that. Was the role of Islamic invasion to India important in decline of Buddhism in India? Is there some historians verdicts
about how important that was?Tell me your personal opinion about the importance and tell the reason too.Don't give me wiki links because I've read them all.Thz alot!

I'm an amateur scholar of this period and I can't think of any text devoted specifically to this topic.

The consensus among professional scholars is that, by the time of the Mogal (Islamic) invasions, Buddhism was already a weak cultural force in India. It had absorbed many influences from the increasingly popular Hindu tradition - devotion to deities, de-emphasis on meditation practice, etc. - and in a real sense, was a minor force in the culture of the time.

The invasions finally put an end to an already weakened tradition.

As I recall, The History of Indian Buddhism by Akira has some brief coverage of this.
