travelocity flights to las vegas
What to do if I misspelled flight and hotel reservations for a friend?

I recently misspelled the name "JonathAn" as "JonathOn" while booking flight and hotel reservations in Las Vegas via travelocity. I realized the mistake within 24 hours and contacted travelocity who told me that they would refund the ticket price and I could rebook Jon the flight. However, the refund and current flight price is off by $120! I dont want to pay extra $120 so I called American Airlines and they told me that they could not make the name change as I did not book the reservation through them. They did however note in their records that I called and acknowledged that I wanted to change the "O" to and "A" and the rep. told me that it should not result in Jon being unable to pass security/board the plane at the airport. I am generally not one to take risk so it has me feeling anxious.... Does anyone have any experience with this? Or does anyone believe that this should not be an issue at the airport?? Thank you in advance to any contributers!

As long as the last name is spelled correctly and you have a picture ID and a credit card with the correct spelling, you will not have a problem with the airline or the hotel. I had a similar problem but that so many year ago before 9/11 and didn't have an issue.

Refunding the ticket is not advisable because travelocity will not give you a full refund.
